Distance: 9,5kms/6mi      Difficulty: Mid-low      Place: Rio Serrano Village

This excursion is suitable for riders with a low level of experience. In case you have never ridden or are a little doubtful about your level of experience, we recommend the 2-hour horseback ride (click here).

Our horses are very calm and tame, suitable even for children (minimum height required: 1.40mts).

We will visit the Villa Rio Serrano sector. It is a very calm and relaxed ride, where the previous experience that is required is not very great; we just need the rider to feel confident in handling his horse on climbs, descents and slopes.

We will mostly walk on our horses; for riders with some experience we can try some trot or gallop during this excursion, prior agreement with the baqueano in charge, and spliting the group between the experienced and the not experienced ones. (Experienced riders who want to go faster, we recommend scheduling others of our rides, which are longer or more difficult).

In the first part, we travel the same path as in the 2-hour ride. We began our experience in the stables of the Astorga Family; After getting ready to ride the horses, we will head towards the banks of the Serrano River, where we will be able to make a stop to take some pictures of the river, with the imposing Paine Massif in the background.

We will be able to appreciate the exact point where the confluence of the Serrano and Grey rivers takes place, to then continue our way through the Patagonian pampas.

We continue the ride crossing a small lagoon, on our horses, in the River Nutria sector, to then enter a beautiful and ancient Magellanic Deciduous Forest; composed of trees of the Nothofagus genus and endemic species of shrubs, such as El Calafate. Also we will have the opportunity to see different species of birds.

Once we leave the forest, we will begin to gradually gain height, to reach a viewpoint, in which you will be able to appreciate the entire valley of the Serrano River sector in a fabulous panoramic view.

You will be able to see the Serrano river, the Grey river, the Paine Massif, hills like Donoso and Ferrier; and if the weather is nice with us and the day is clear you will even be able to see part of the Grey Glacier.

After stopping for a short break and taking photos to remember, we will begin the descent to the Astorga family stables, where our horseback ride will end.

* We provide helmets and gaiters. In charge of the horseride will be a baqueano from the area, spanish speaker.

* Riding boots are recommended, if you do not have it is recommended to wear the smallest footwear you can.

* The excursion begins and ends in Villa Río Serrano, Torres del Paine.    How to get there?
